I haven’t blogged in a while because life has been very, very busy, but I really just wanted to get a post out there, even if it’s a quick one, to shine a light on my friend Meg and her event.

Her debut solo exhibition, This House is Hers, opens tomorrow, Thursday 11 September, with a private view from 5 till 8. Everybody is welcome. After that it runs until 25 September, where you can freely turn up to Swan Hill Studios and even get to chat with her in person.

A couple of months back I was lucky enough to take pictures in the studio, surrounded by some of her work. She is honestly up there with one of the most humble people I’ve ever met. The more time goes on, the more I find myself drawn to people who are brilliant at what they do but don’t carry even the slightest bit of arrogance. She is like that. For someone so young and relatively new to this chapter of her art career, it amazes me how grounded she is. I’m not sure she even realises how good she is. Not just with a paintbrush, but as a person.

If there’s any local artist who really deserves support during their first solo exhibition, it’s her. That’s why, even though this isn’t the longest of blog posts, it felt important to share it. To shine a light on the human that is Meg.

I’ll be writing a longer post after the private view with more about the exhibition itself, but for now this is about showing up for her.
